I've worked out of a lot of trucks over the years, the one I'm in now is bar none the nicest I've ever had. Purchased it used in Dec 2012, about 45K miles on it. 2008 Pete 335, Paccar PX8 engine, 6 speed Allison tranny.

I've always been curious about these Paccar engines. Are they Paccar from scratch or another manufacturer with special components?

Correct me if I am wrong but Paccars are just rebranded Cummins.

Willie how is that engine/trans combo working for ya' and what size engine?

The Paccar PX8 is a Cummins ISC painted black.

285 HP CM, it works fine, but I would like to get the HP turned up just a smidge as I never really run unloaded, truck weighs around 30K all the time. The tranny works OK, it's just the previous owner changed the read diff to a lower ratio to bump up highway top speed, now the Allison isn't matched proper for the differential. When you use an Allison it should be set up by Allison to match the ratio for best performance. In this case, it would require fitting a different tranny to work proper.

That's a great looking truck Willie. I really like the Maintainer bed. Back before the crash, I was looking at putting one on an F550 but didn't pull the trigger as the market was turning south and work was drying up.

A blessing in disguise I guess as a med. duty service truck is more practical when you start adding up the weight you need to carry. The heavier chassis will also be cheaper in the long run over a one ton chassis as well. My father instilled in me to never by a 1/2 ton work truck and always bought 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. He was a framing carpenter when I was young, later a home builder and never wore a truck out by what he was carrying.

That truck still makes me jealous every time I see it. Did you ever paint the water tank?

(I see you are still letting that funny little rental-prep guy get in the pics.)

LoL, yes, I did paint it red Mitch, gray just didn't work. :p

And yes, the rental prep guy (me) has to get in the pics. After all, I am a legend in my own mind.

As for the water tank, had to change a track on a CD110 Komatsu dumper today at the mine in VA, of course it had rained. That white lime muck was all over my step ladder, the step bumper of the truck, and my boots. The water tank was a quick solution to clean aforementioned items. :)
