Alternate web site

Every other time I click on Heavy Truck Forums a different site comes up with porno video games and junk for sale. I have to click the back arrow
right away to get rid of it. It doesn't always happen but about 50% of the time. I have had other people try to surf HTF and they get the same thing.
Have any of you guys had that occur? I have even had the screen turn red saying that site contains malware.

Haven't had it here but on another site it kept going to a crappy, expensive radiator place.
I think their server had a redirect virus.?

Whatever it is, it has a virus that has totally mucked up my new Smartphone. My old dumbphone never even showed it. Grrr.

I've lost contact with the tech who set up HTF for me and have spoken with the HEF tech. He believes the we may have been hacked, this vulnerability of vBulletin is why we switched the software at HEF. I'm working on getting him access to HTF to repair, hopefully by the end of the week. I'm hoping we can avoid the software change here but it may have to happen. The popularity of HEF made it a more likely target than here.

Well I'm about done on here as far as visiting this forum. The alternate site that pops up when you click on HTF is so raunchy that I will stay over on HEF.

Sorry, Truck Shop

If it helps your tech, I'm using Chrome and have yet to see the alternate website.
I've seen it happen in other places, but it's been a long time.
Truck Shop, what browser are you using?

I haven't experienced it either, I've tried accessing the site on Mozzilla, Chrome and Explorer. My tech isn't finding anything wrong yet. He's suggested switching to the other software we're using at HEF. What are the feelings on that?

I use Bing, If I don't log on for 6 hours this alternate site hits me too. And it is a bit nasty. Also. if I spend more than 30 minutes here something really slows down my computer until I close out of everything. Then I can come back and start over.

Honestly... I have no issue with the HEF format after using it for awhile and getting used to it.

I had the computer tech that takes care of system for the company I work for look at this site. He said It was a regional hack or parasite not uncommon. And the site could
be clear in other areas. And that it will come up on any system in this area. So for now when I click on HTF I immediately click the back button and start over to clear it.

Must be why only you and I seemed to see it. And I use the same procedure to get on the site.

Someone must have done something to correct the problems-I clicked on this site three times and it came up all three just like the good ole days.:)

I'm working on getting the https address here too. Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do that part of things and have a tech. The tech here was different than HEF and I've lost contact with him. Working now with the HEF tech to get things in shape here but it's slow going. We may have to switch to the other format too to help secure this site.

Quite honestly, after getting used to the HEF format I have no problem with that.

I'm glad to hear that!! I was taken aback by the stink that was raised when we switched HEF. Our tech had been recommending it to me for nearly a year but I was reluctant to switch because I knew vBulletin so well. When we got hacked it kind of forced my hand, I was fortunate they didn't go in and do serious damage to our history. I couldn't risk that happening again.

I never did see any difficulty with HEF after the change. Adding photo's was a little different other than that real basic to me. Some people just gripe with any change no matter what.
