Some Holmes 750 action

Yeah, I once changed out the Deutz engine in a Poclain excavator that had been sunk in the mud 'til they flipped off the cooling fan belts and melted the heads. They had to bring out a dragline and reroute the creek and wait nearly a month for the mud to dry. Had to lay crane mats to get the service truck out to it.
Another good one was a kid stuck a D9G in wet sand. I let it sit for 2 days and used the blade and ripper to lift it out of the hole and let him shovel sand under the tracks. Walked her right out and he knew when to stop after that.

I have nothing to add, except this goes great with my scotch.
Oh, I seem to remember using a drag line to get out a young feller with a stuck D8 from a retention pond.......
Just a wee splash of Crown Royal here. With a dollop of A&W root beer... Sounds weird, but try it sometime.

No Holmes 750 action on this job . Just hopped in the Jeep with some tools & rigging .

Problem was the gland head was froze to the rod .

pulled the rod assembly & took it back to the shop .100_4875.JPG

It was a new one on me . Normally the problem is breaking the gland loose from the cylinder tube . Not the Rod froze in the gland !

We pressed the gland off the rod back at the shop and found a thin layer of rust that caused the problem . Honed it out and she slides on the shaft fine . Waiting on a seal kit now .

Pulled some trees today with the GMC . We cut the dead trees about a month ago thinking there would be a hard freeze where we could just roll down with a tractor or dozer to work them up & remove . It's Feb 3 and hit 70 degrees today . Ground is muddy & soft so opted to 750 the trees up to the parking lot . LOL ! :)

Game over ! 100_4883.JPG

Snuck one out from behind the shelter house with the " Holmes stump " & block . LOL. :D

The seal kit showed up on the grain auger project so we stabbed the rod back in the cylinder , reeved up the cable and tested it out .

The Westfield auger is back in action . Buddy Kenny asked me if I remembered how the cable was rigged ….. I'm like yeah , 6 part line just like in the Grove crane service manual Bro . LOL ! :)

Good idea with the twin dump valves. When I would have to load the 215's on the beaver tail, I would crawl on to the brake over. Then swing the house 180*
power the bucket down to lift the tracks level then back on til tracks were all the way on. Swing back around and crawl ahead then swing again and curl the
boom and bucket. I don't know if that was the good way or not, it always stayed on the trailer. LOL

Truck Shop
Same way on the 3300 excavator . Hop up on the lowboy almost like I own it . LOL 😄
