Look at that beautiful L9000 making the same dollar as a brand new truck. Cool shots. I imagine it's a bit frosty up in the operators seat at 8:00 a.m. Lol

Fastdirt- my L wasn't so beautiful today - its hard to keep a clean truck in this weather! It can be down right cold up there at 13'. This house was on a hill about 30' off the Mississippi River - so it acted as a ramp for that nice cool breeze to come off the river right in our faces. Atleast the guys on the roof get to move to keep warm - I just sit there on my frozen foam seat.

I really do appreciate the compliments though - compared to what my dad drives, my truck is a ugly turd, but it seems that some of you guys seem to think it ain't a bad lookin truck

I loved the Ford's I drove, started in a 1977 model and finished that job in a '95 Aeromax very similar style to the one you run. Got laid off in '97

I know, it does look like an Aeromax. I searched & search trying to find an L9000 from '91 & I found that many of them still have the round headlights & flat bumper. Until I dug further & found that mine is actually a LTS9000. I'm not crazy about the extended front bumper, but I guess it will do.

The local township I help had 3 L8000 with really small motors. Fully loaded with rock or sand, forget about getting over 50mph, but the beefy frames allowed us to run heavy plows in the winter.

Was that the inline Ford 6? They weren't power houses but they got the job done day after day. A far cry better than the Cat 3208 the L8000 used to be equipped with.

Steve, 1 was a diesel & the other 2 were gassers. The gassers seemed to pull harder. The diesel got demoted to pulling the road drag & that was about it.

I thought this cool driving down this skinny road to get to a job in the backwaters of the MississippiBULGER'S HOLLOW II.jpgBULGER'S HOLLOW I.jpg

Took this last summer, thought it looked cool so I snapped a picture. Contractor wanted max reach towards the rear of the house. Had to watch how high to raise outriggers.New Job Started Last Week. It takes a nice little run to get up the hill.

Like fastdirt said glad to see you making the same money as a new truck at 1/10 the price. Untill a few weeks ago the newest dump we had was a 1989 and we could still bill at the same price as a 180,000 truck. Like a guy told me once
" you don't git rid of your grandma just cause she's old".

One thing is for sure, I have found that older trucks are more simple to work on. Not many sensors on my L. When I had my '03 IH, the coolant sensor went bad about 100miles from home & the computer wouldn't let the truck run. So I had to cheat around the dame sensor & drove on my way.
