I am a huge fan of the Peterbilt 379 EXHD or "long hood" to some. It is definitely the most popular of the show trucks and just has a timeless great look. I Just wanted to start a thread for the 379, 359, and even the sleeker yet classic looking 389. The 379 ran for 20 years yet the earlier 359 and the later 389 all resemble one another...especially from a far. These trucks aren't for everyone and definitely require extra effort to fit in certain areas but if you have ask to why the long hood, then it's not the truck for you. I took my CDL test in a 379 lowboy with a big block CAT as a 20 year old newbie and have forever loved them.
Here's mine the day I got it and currently as it sits in the shop. What an experience that was looking over that long hood hearing the big Cat through straight pipes with a 3 stage Jake brake and a mean turbo blow off that was echoing off buildings and highway walls. Again, if you have to ask why then straight stacks aren't for you..
I have a thread in the Showtime section with more pics.
