I remember in the 70's Dad and Grandad had similar setups in their pickups. 2 way radios ruled for company use, but when you needed parts or service, the phone was there. I recall the charges were pretty steep so there wasn't any idle chit-chat.

I sure did not realize they had that capability in the 1940's :cool:

The transmitter unit in the trunk was interesting and they mentioned a larger batterie and generator for the vehicle . It must have pulled the juice on a call .

I used to run low band 2way Motorolas in my service trucks, 150 watts without a repeater gave me 30-40 miles depending on hills. Those puppies would dim the headlights at night when you keyed up.
