Coronado, Classic and FLD Clutch Linkage

An area to keep an eye on is the clutch linkage from cab to transmission on Coronado, Classic and FLD models. The 14" inch arm that bolts
to the clutch fork cross shaft can turn into a can of worms if the pinch bolt is not tightened properly. The cross shaft has a woodruff key that the
clutch arm slides over and the arm is also held tight with a pinch bolt. If the pinch bolt is not tight enough, when the clutch is depressed it starts
trying to rotate. The key will wear on the key way that's milled into the arm, The arm is only cast steel and wears fast. Plus the end of the
cross shaft will wear so bad that even with a new clutch arm and key it will never tighten down with the pinch bolt. That bolt has to be extremely
tight. And it will wear so that it will cause hell trying to keep free play, clutch brake and clutch adjusted correctly. And can lead to transmission
being removed just to change the clutch cross shaft.
The other problem is the bushings in the clutch rod from cab to that clutch arm I've been talking about. It's very simple keep the pivot
bolts tight and if the bushings are bad just replace the whole rod. These are two areas that are missed when servicing the truck or when adjusting
the clutch. Which can cause the thought that a new clutch is needed when it is not.
