It's so much nicer than a tent for 3 nights in a row, can't always use the shower since the fresh water tank is only 50 gallons but a nice warm spongebath is better than nothing. And once or twice a month in the summer the girlfriend and I will go to a couple of places where we can put out the lawn chairs and just listen to the coyotes and relax for an overnight stay. Usually just a 25-30 mile drive, Not bad for a $1400 initial investment. The chassis only had 74K miles on it with a good running 2 barrel 318... Still it only hits about 7MPG. Ug.
I sure like that RZ !

Like a home away from home on wheels .

Lets you get away for a few day's of rest & relaxation with a few amenities of home .

An added bonus of the camper thing is not sleeping on the ground with scorpions or snakes. One of our overnight spots has a population of both, it's really creepy to hear a rattlesnake crawling around the tent at 1:30 AM. Another trip we folded the tent and found 3 scorpions living under it.

Yeah RZ , that's another good point of sleeping in the camper . No creepy crawlers in bed with ya .

We don't have any scorpions , from what I understand they like to hide in dark places like shoes & boots .:eek

When I worked at the Shell station in Vantage the summer of 74 there was a kid that worked the closing shift with me. He would always take the women's restroom when
we started cleaning and he was always done way before I finished the men's. I asked one of the day shift crew what was up with Manny Fox and the women's can.
He walked into the back room and pulled down a can with two scorpions in it, Manny would put them in the sinks when he went on shift.:avid

About 2 years ago I went out on a sunny Sunday to rebuild a fan clutch for a hay hauler in his big tarp building. My Girlfriend went along and went exploring in the lot. She came walking in with a little stick in her hand and said "Look! I found a cool buuug" It was a scorpion and a big one, just getting ready to scramble up the stick to her hand... She's a bit better educated now. People from New York... sheesh.

At least the Girlfriend is not spooked buy bugs & critters .:)

I used to get calls from the wife about a snake or giant spider on the sidewalk or driveway . LOL !

Then I got rid of the cell phone .

New tires for the Ford showed up this evening & got them installed .

Went with the Mickey Thompson's

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street/sportsman-st/

Pretty happy with them at $ 545.00 mounted & balanced .

Hood gauges work great but & need to pull the scoop back off & set the tachometer for an 8 cylinder .

It's set for a 4 cylinder now & reads twice as fast . :D

Then again If I leave the Tack setting where it is I can safely wipe it to 8,000 RPM and the mill will stay intact . LOL !

It's too bad we don't live closer and this thread happened some years ago. I had a collection of Ford engines and parts that was huge. I got tired of moving it
and sold the everything for 1/4 of what it was worth. In it I had three complete SCJ 429's, the intake ports were so big on those heads you could roll a jumbo
egg down the ports the intake valves were 2.250. I would have gave you one, I basically gave them away anyhow.

One 429 SCJ long block I sold my then boss, it was used in a pulling truck. I built most of the engine- 13:1 comp, 780 lift roller, Comp roller rockers and p/r,
aftermarket forged crank and rods plus aftermarket main caps on studs, 360* Offenhauser tunnel port with a 1150 reworked to 1250 Barry Grant, The water
jacket was filled with block rock up to 1 1/2 below the deck. It made 90 plus pulls before it dropped a valve at 8,300 rpm and shot water out number 3 stack
about twenty feet in the air in the Tacoma Dome.-------------------------Toast.

Yeah Truck Shop , would have loved to bought some of your old inventory !

Pretty firm on my decision to stay 0 to 5,000 RPM on the 460 build .

Gonna leave the auto trans & 2.70 something rear gears in place .

Gonna go for " Torque off the line " & stay low on the RPM's

This 460 engine we have is a 1977 model . Will have small port big chamber heads but do you think I would gain anything going with anything else staying in the lower RPM range ?

Well there is no need to turn more than 5000. My choices-Lunati cams #10340100 tame, less tame #10340101. Only one intake I would use, Weiand Stealth dual plane
makes great power from idle to 5,800 on a 429 or 460.-------- both cams have nice idle.

Then again on the other hand part of me thinks " keep the engine stock " & drop a blower kit on top .

I'm a Detroit man anyhow , it would fit in fine with the other superchargers we have in trucks & equipment . LOL!

Some of these kits are interesting .

Not to bad of a price on the small block Ford kit . Could drop it on pretty fast & paint the satin finish blower Detroit Green so it would match the rest of the fleet .:)

Dad had a '32 ford 3 window street rod with a 383 Chevy stroker running a B&M MagnaCharger, that was one snappy engine. It had no problems hitting low 12's at the strip, then went on a 6500 mile cross country cruise. He was pretty proud that it had never ridden a trailer after he brought it's junky original rusted out body home to the shop.

If you paint it green, don't forget the plastic oil pan 😛

That's pretty cool showing up at the drag strip running that good and then take off on a long haul cruise .Something to be proud of for sure RZ :specool

I really like the supercharger idea . Will research it further as the more I think about it the more I like it .

Keep the engine fairly stock & spend the money on the supercharger kit , make more power in all RPM's range and still drive it .

Had forgot about " Dyer's " In Chicago Ill . They look like the go to place for superchargers .

Got the new brake master cylinder installed yesterday , brakes work great now !

Need a new key switch & neutral " safety switch" . For some reason the key switch has some dead spots in it . Will start the engine but no accessory power though it .

Have to put the gear shift in neutral to start the engine . Hopefully the two switches will fix it .

Mostly little minor issues now but can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this phase of the project .

Off to the exhaust shop next & have them drop on some new dual pipes .

Thinking of 2 1/2 " pipe ?
