That sounds like a common style of seal for farm tractor and backhoe front wheels. Now they use 3-4 ribs of rubber instead of the leather, pretty effective at keeping dirt out.

Did they have a driver on the dolly end? I've been involved in moving more than a few center pivot irrigation spans at '160-180' apiece and we always used a steerable dolly built from some old junk 1.5 ton truck. The tiller guy rode in the rear escort and jumped out to unlock and steer in tight...

SDP s/n prefix, this engine has been deleted, has a single turbo manifold kit, and a hot rod program installed. It wont start because the ECM died... Now he has to get a new one and hope it can...

Last set I did was the torch method, Haven't seen a set for a long time but I'm willing to try the cutoff saw if I ever see another set. Any method is going to be a stinky mess.

That one is nobody I know, but I do see that rig over here on I-90 once or twice a month. That set of trailers looks just like half a dozen I see every now and then. But I don't put cheap plastic mudflaps on them. ;)

I used to run low band 2way Motorolas in my service trucks, 150 watts without a repeater gave me 30-40 miles depending on hills. Those puppies would dim the headlights at night when you keyed up.

I remember in the 70's Dad and Grandad had similar setups in their pickups. 2 way radios ruled for company use, but when you needed parts or service, the phone was there. I recall the charges were pretty steep so there wasn't any idle chit-chat.

The floating plate for the sock wont fit the cartridge filters, it can be replaced if you can find a parts guy that knows anything. But I think if you check the top support housing it's shaped for the sock too.
