    AC's Purple People Eater

This engine was kind of a flop for Allis Chalmers as far as on highway. But truthfully there wasn't much that could touch it. One big problem was it had to be brought up to temperature slowly.
Push it from cold and it had a high probability of sticking a piston. I saw several years ago plus one laying on a pallet in North Bend at a truck shop with a window in the side of the block.
    This one is well detailed.

I remember reading about those, thought they were the 21000 series engines. That one is not a 21000.

That whole line up is pretty interesting. Most of my experience with the 21000 engines was with A-C dozers and scrapers. The 21000 was an absolute beast in the old 260E scrapers, more than plenty of power there.

Do you know how long they were used and were they well accepted by truck manufacturers?

About a four run on them was all, replacement parts were a problem.
